Now that my little girl has turned two, she is officially a toddler. I have been thinking of all the big changes that will occur in this next year of her life, and I want to press “pause” on life.
She will give up her “pass” by choice or by force :).
She will get moved to a toddler bed.
She will hopefully get potty trained.
She will learn so many new words and countless other things.
Before much else changed about her little life, I wanted to capture her room as it has been for her “baby stage” of life.
Please join me on this brief tour of Reagan’s little girl’s room. When you open her door, you will realize it is the only bedroom in our house that has a wreath on it. Ahem…I went a little crazy on having a girl.
I’m going to try to tell you a little about what I have made or you might see in these pictures as I go along.
The red dresser we made with Crackle Paint when Jeremiah was born, so it is about a four-year old project. The little bird and owl hook signs I had started painting and selling, before getting pregnant with Reagan. I was thrilled to be able to make some and actually keep them. I love to hang girly things on them in her room. Currently there is fun dress up stuff being displayed.
We don’t use the changing pad anymore as she is big and doesn’t really fit, so I just took that away the other day. I keep her most worn shoes in the little basket and I love the crochet hat I found online. The headband display is a little coffee mug holder I found at a thrift store and just repainted.
She has a vast collection of hair bows. I still make her new bows all the time as my designs change and they get lost in the car, diaper bag, etc.
I love the Ikea light we filled with fake flowers. The huge ‘R’ in the background is a cardboard letter from Jo Anne’s. I spray painted it plum purple, which is Reagan’s favorite color. 🙂
I still love the quilt I made for her before she was born. I hope it is a good size to use on her toddler bed, when that day arrives.
Her crib is getting quite full with all the stuff she likes to take to bed. There doesn’t seem to be any showing, but she must always have a matchbox car in hand when she goes to bed.
Reagan’s handprints over some scotch taped letters made the pretty “REAGAN” art piece. I love the two framed baby pictures and the last piece on the wall in the gray frame is song lyrics.
Since before Reagan was born, I have listened to Lady Gaga’s lyrics in Born This Way and prayed my girl feels confident and knows
There’s nothin’ wrong with lovin’ who you are
She said, ’cause He made you perfect, babe
So hold your head up, girl and you you’ll go far
Listen to me when I say
I’m beautiful in my way
‘Cause God makes no mistakes I’m on the right track, baby
I was born this way
Don’t hide yourself in regret
Just love yourself and you’re set
I’m on the right track, baby
I was born this way, born this way
When Reagan was born, flowered felt pillows came out and were everywhere! I (of course) fell in love with this trend and had to make her that hot pink pillow. I also came up with the fabric, child safe doll. I made a bucket full of different ones of these. I am addicted to fun fabrics paired together with contrasting colors.
Matt made the kitchen for the kids the Christmas before she was born. We always knew it would end up in her room. I love how he kept it neutral, so the boys can play with it too without feeling it’s too “girly.” Plus, it looks so good against the bright-colored walls.
I painted the room. It took forever. Before this room became Reagan’s it was J’s room. There were giraffes and elephants on the walls then for his safari theme. When we found out we were having a girl, J moved in with Caleb and this became a long project. We sanded the walls, primed, and painted them purple. I then went back and painted all the flowers, birds, and owls. The big tree in the corner is left over from J’s room. I had to keep a piece of his theme. The textured walls made all the painting so much harder for this OCD girl, but it was worth it. I love her room, and it is still one of our favorite places to go “chill” and play.
Did you go crazy decorating for a girl? Is your baby growing up too fast and making you sentimental too!? Thanks so much for stopping by!
