From our family to yours, Merry Christmas!
Haven, Here I Come!
We just got back from St. George Island and had the best time hanging out with my extended family, playing on the beach, and swimming in the pool. Those were great summer days. We got to catch up with people we love, meet our new nephew/cousin, and just relax.
I will be posting more about that trip and the fun we had with my big family (including the boys’ fishing trip where they caught a shark), but first off I want to tell you what I am excited about.
Tomorrow, I leave for my first ever blog conference. I am so excited. Attending a blog conference was one of my personal goals for 2013. It might be the only one I have almost accomplished, but that’s ok. I’m going and so excited about it! There are so many wonderful bloggers going that have become real life friends that I can’t wait to hang out with, as well as some pretty awesome bloggers that I can’t wait to meet.
Haven, is a conference for DIY bloggers, and I know I will learn so much attending the sessions and from talking with everyone else. I plan to come back and hit the ground running with all kinds of new ideas and inspiration! So stay tuned!
I can’t wait to share with you about my time at Haven, but if you want to follow along with me, while I’m at the conference, be sure to follow my twitter and instagram feeds. For those who follow along, you will get a chance to win a prize next week – don’t miss out!
Thanks so much for checking in, and I will be back soon!
Thank you so much to my amazingly talented and servant hearted sister-in-law, Christina, for working and using her talented photography skills for us while on her “off” time. We are blessed by you, Someplace Wild!
Happy Father’s Day 2013
Today is a day we celebrate our dads and our husbands (whose kids are too young to pull Father’s Day off on their own). Happy Father’s Day to all the awesome dads out there.
I am so thankful for my awesome dad and father in law…who will help me or are there for me whenever I need.
To my amazing husband, I am so blessed to have you to do life with. You are an incredible dad! Although there may be a slight lean in society’s pendulum that mother’s do more of the child raising…I would not be here without you. You lead our family and make me a better mom by how you demonstrate daily love and patience with our kids. Thank you for being fun, loving, wise, humble, available and present. You are the best dad. My heart hurts for the kids that don’t have dads like you or dads at all. I am excited for the opportunity to open our home to foster care kids and watch you love on and build into kids that have not had a Godly role model. You will shine and I will be there working beside you. What a gift.
One of the best compliments we could give you, came our little four year old. When asked what he loved about you, he said “he gives bigger hugs.” That is the truth no matter how we love, you encourage us to be more real, vulnerable and patient with one another which results in a deeper more profound love. Thank you. I love you boo.
Happy Father’s Day!
The Beginning of CHANGE
2013 is here! What do you have planned? What are you dreaming about? What are you claiming for this year?
I have read several blogs, Instagrams, and tweets in the last few days about choosing and claiming a word for 2013. I love this idea.
I love how JaNeal shared how she wants to take off the pressure of doing more, so she can claim LIFE as new and more enriching. I love how Alissa is claiming “purposeful” for everything she does and wants to live 2013 with that in mind. As I have read and seen so many beautiful hearts (as people are being raw and open), I have wanted to come up with a word for myself.
We have been sensing a leading and direction for 2013 that we believe that is from the Lord, and if I try to think of one word for it all I would say it is “change.”
As we celebrated the close of 2012 last night, laughing and cuddling as a family, an excitement kept brewing in me for all that we believe 2013 holds. You may have already read how 2012 was a hard year and held a lot of change for us. When I reflect on the last year though, I would call it more of a year of “transition” and “preparation” for this coming year.
I have big dreams for this blog, but what I am most excited about is all the changes that will happen on a personal level with our family and the road God is taking us down. I can’t wait to open up more about it, when the time is right. Thank you for being on this journey with me as we “change!”
I hope you all had a wonderful and safe New Year’s Eve. Now for some of my favorite pictures taken by Someplace Wild of our New Year’s Eve party (family style)…ENJOY the talent here!!
