We had an awesome fourth of July!! We woke up bright and early and headed to the country…aka…G-Pops and Grammy Pammy’s house. We hung out, swam, and had lunch. It was so fun! Cody and Oj came in town and it was so good to see them! The boys of course had their annual Bottle Rocket War…I was the photographer and got a splinter in my toe during the process-but at least it wasn’t like Matt who got pelted with a rocket like a foot from his back! It immediately swelled up and bled! After the country, we went home for late naps and dinner…got over to Publix for the fireworks at Roswell High pretty early! So we hung out and waited for our family and Friends to come sit with us! J couldn’t have been more perfect sitting there WAY past his bed time, and Caleb LOVED the fireworks! He wanted to hold them…and talked all the way through them. “wow!” – “Whoa!” – “Light!” – “FIIIRRREE” – “Up to moon” is what we kept hearing…so cute! Matt and I agreed…we much preferred watching our kids reactions to the fireworks than watching the fireworks themselves! I couldn’t take the camera off both boys! J watched them too! He would turn towards me…when I called his name…but then he turned his head right back to the excitement in the sky! Hope you all had a great fourth of July as well!
A tribute to 5 incredible years!
So so weird we have been married for five years!! It has flown by! I truly believe we are more in love today than when we first got married, and like we told a pre-marital couple we met with the other night…it’s only because of Jesus! Otherwise we would have been swallowed up by our own selfishness and pride a long time ago. I feel blessed to be married to my best friend! I know we aren’t the same people we were when we got married…ha ha but I look at this picture we took on our anniversary (the wave of the hand shows it’s been 5 years 🙂 ) and we are both wearing black shirts-not on purpose!! That is just the color both of us prefer to wear! Our first picture we ever took together, by the amazing Joni DeVictor, has us both wearing black! How funny-5 years later…that is still the case! I have that first picture framed in our living room…and I don’t think I can ever switch it out to a newer picture…its a classic and such a sweet reminder of God’s faithfulness in our lives. I love you boo!
Life from a lampshade
Today I recreated a lampshade for Caleb’s room, and it got me thinking about my life.
Before Caleb was born, we prepared his room just for him! I found this green lampshade with a darker green polka dot all over it-and I loved it! I thought it was a great accent color to his blue walls. side note: I don’t like to be to matchy-matchy…color is a gift! When we moved Caleb to his big boy bed…the lamp shade got damaged early on. 🙂 Over the last year I have tried to tape it together, so we didn’t have to buy another one…and well…I just liked the one we had! 🙂 Slowly is has lost pieces (since it was like a plastic inside) to where the tape didn’t have anything to stick to…cause there were holes all over.
It was time for a new lampshade. I had been looking for one…and couldn’t find one that I liked for a reasonable price…and I must have looked at a white $5 one like four times at Wal-Mart…and didn’t want to get it-thought it was to bland and didn’t want to spend the money on it.
So today I got the idea…why not just try to make one???
I took the metal pieces from the old lampshade and used cardboard, tape, paper and a hot glue gun…to make this new one.
So where does my life come in to this great story???? Well, living on faith and not much money…has brought out more creativity and fun moments for me and then for Caleb and I together. He is growing up painting, organizing buttons, playing with paper…currently he is trying to master scissors! 🙂 It’s just fun to be crafty with him…and has brought many fun/teachable moments for us together…and I wouldn’t change our life for anything!
I feel so blessed to have the family I do…awesome, healthy kids…and an amazing husband! I am truely blessed!
A look at a great Father’s Day!
We had a great morning as a family celebrating Matt and then got to go out to the country and have lunch and a dip in the pool with both our dads-what a fun day!
