We have been busily having a blast over here. Most of you know, but Matt’s office has been under construction since the beginning of the year. We have had the privilege of having “daddy” work from in the house since the first of this year. That adjustment brought its own new set of levels of communication and space, but we worked through it and ultimately enjoyed our time!
How did all this begin you may ask? My brother, Tony, and his wife, Christina wanted to move into the studio apartment attached to our garage that has housed Matt’s office for the last several years. With that request, they volunteered to remodel our garage into an awesome space for Matt to move his office into. So, to have two amazing artists/friends/family build an incredible space for us for free…and than to live in our backyard?! We said “YES, PLEASE!?” Through all of this we really got to know one of their best friend’s Zach Bramblett, who owns Roux. He’s awesome and was pretty much over here everyday working and helping Tony. That is one incredible friend! You guys need to go check out his restaurant!
Our boys began this process by watching the construction from playing in the yard. That grew to using their plastic play tools on scrap wood. It quickly escalated from there and became a hands on project for them as well. They now know how to use hammers, nails, screw drivers and even saws! They started their “own” projects! Caleb has been working hard to make Matt’s desk for weeks now.:)
They love to go “out and work”. Whether that is using a hammer, nail, and scrap piece of wood or building Spiderman city from wood for their cars to cruise around in. For a while, Caleb even retired wanting to be the “real Buzz Lightyear” when he grew up and traded that job in to be a “worker”. We have all learned so much through this process. There have been many days of being in the cold and/or rain to have this project reach where it has! There are some finishing touches like lights, shelving, and the bathroom that still need to be wrapped up. As soon as that happens, I will be posting some pictures!
For now, it has reached a point where Matt could move into it, and Tony and Christina could move into their new apartment! Tony has crafted an incredible space for Matt. I want to move into that garage now! We could not be more thankful for the gorgeous place and getting to have family live right in our back yard. What an exciting week it has been! We are so blessed! Here are a few pictures I took a couple of weeks ago that I have been meaning to share! Ha poor Reagan was a trooper through it all! Since she is not quite walking, we had to take trips in the wagon, stroller, or swing around the driveway with toys cause the poor thing could not crawl around in the sawdust and nails! She is a dream…and really was so flexible!
