This week I did two loads of laundry. I washed, dried, and folded them, before I realized I forgot to put the soap in the loads. I sat there and had to laugh when I put the pieces together. My mind feels like mush. I guess it is moving-mush? Maybe it’s a little like pregnancy-brain!? (And I’m most definitely not preggers!) I guess there’s just too much on my mind. So, I laughed and simply grabbed all the underwear and socks to wash with my next load. Yes, I left the rest deciding that a good rinse and spin did the trick.
On Packing Boxes (progress 1), I told you we had packed 25 boxes. I am happy to say we now have packed 54! We are getting there. All the walls, shelves, and dresser tops are pretty much packed away. Most of the kitchen and lots from closets/cupboards are gone. We have even done a bunch of toys.
We are now in the it feels weird to still be living here stage. I go to turn on a lamp, and my lamp is not there. Weird. I go to get small dipping bowls from the cupboard and they are not there. Crazy. We are really moving. The house is really starting to feel packed up, so I am not worried that moving day is approaching so quickly! This time next week, we will be sitting in an empty house & preparing to spend the last night ever in this house. It is crazy.
One of the biggest things to tear down this week was the kids’ huge trampoline. We don’t have room for it at our new house, and the new owners did not want it. The kids were ok when it went away, but then three days later sweet J said he missed it.
I know all the changes are exciting to our kids (as well as us), but I am still trying to being sensitive that it is a huge deal to them. It’s hard to be patient in all the little moments, but then I realize they are learning as we go. J told me yesterday he was going to take pictures of everything with his LeapPad, so he could remember it all. He went around saying “I am taking a picture of the tv, so I can remember it. I am taking a picture of the kitchen table, so I can remember it.” It was sweet but also heart wrenching. He doesn’t get it. Being four years old he does not understand what is going and what is not. I’m trying to remember that in the moments were he is showing his nervousness and going to the bathroom every five seconds.
This week we started working outside a little. My amazing father-in-law came over with his trailer and hauled some more stuff off for us. Caleb wanted to sweep the driveway. J wanted to help load all the firewood to be carried off, and little Reagan wanted to sing to all of us. 🙂 These moments I want to always remember.
It is getting hard to walk in here. There are boxes piled everywhere. It’s amazing how when things come out of cupboards and closets and are sitting all in boxes in one space how much room it takes up. I have never been more thankful for storage spaces.
If we aren’t stepping around boxes that are packed, it is empty containers or boxes waiting to be packed. I think every moment we are not packing or prepping for the move this coming week, we will be either outside or at a park. It is getting to be too hard to be in here.
I will have one more Packing Boxes update for you. It will reveal our total number of boxes we packed. Just for fun, I thought we could have a little contest to guess the final count on our packed boxes. If you would like to play, just leave a guess on our final box count in the comments below. The winner will get a $5 Starbucks card and one of my crafts! I packed up my inventory a while ago so when I unpack I’ll dig out something fun to go with the gift card! So, please flatter me, and help add a little more fun to this process. What is your guess??? How many boxes will we pack? (Make sure to check other guesses and pick an original number!)
I hope you are all having a wonderful weekend! Thanks so much for checking in on our moving progress!

oh, I can only imagine the mush brain. I moved when we only had a 15 month old. I can’t imagine moving with 3 kids. I told my hubby that I hoped we would never have to move again… I’ll guess 99 boxes. 🙂

Oh my gosh the last time I moved, my kids were 6, 4, and 9 months, so I can totally relate! They’re now 20, 18, and 14, so my prayer for you is that your new home will be home for many years to come!
ok, my guess is 105.
and I’ll share my coffee with you in person when i win. 🙂
hugs to you, Erica!
