Nothing scares me quite like the thought of little girls growing up without self-confidence. Insecurity and false outlooks on who you are can lead down a dangerous slippery slope full of pain, pot holes and muddy waters. It kills me to think my Reagan could some day stumble down this kind of path. I probably tell her way to often that she is a masterpiece (Ephesians 2:10) because often she will respond with “I know” or even “thank you.” Sometimes she responds with “No, you are a masterpiece, mommy” and my heart melts.
I want her to know and believe in the very fibers of her being that she is unique.
She is special.
There is no one on this planet like her.
She is an original.
She is not meant to be like everyone else.
God designed her the way he wanted her for a purpose.
Everything about her is unique and matters.
This weekend we got to celebrate one of my sweet niece’s birthday. As I thought of her turning two, I thought how young she is and was praying these same prayerful requests over her. I pray I always have a relationship with my daughter and nieces where we can talk and be open.
I made this sweet little sign for my niece as part of her birthday present. It is almost the exact same method as my You Are My Sunshine wood sign, but below you can see the main ideas on how to make your own sweet reminder sign.
I love these be-you-tiful girls!
The joy and innocence in these sweet faces melt my heart. I just want to guard them and put walls around them for all the lies and insults that will be thrown at them in years ahead. I wish I could, but I can’t. Instead I can turn to Jesus and trust his plan for their lives and pray I am a valuable tool in their journey.
Happy Birthday beautiful Natalie! I love you so much and am honored to be your aunt!
