I’m obsessed with worn wood. There is something about how vintage and aged it looks, yet it happened all on its own without any intentional distressing. It’s like God’s handy work minus the sandpaper and supplies. I love it.
If you have been to my house, you might know we kind of collect wood around here. At any moment there are piles of wood pallets and boards lying around. I love that at as well. I feel like an atmosphere to fester creativity has to be born with the inspiration being readily available.
Matt’s aunt, Wilma, had a birthday coming up. She is an incredible chef and runs a small catering business all on her own. Did I mention she’s in her 70’s? I love this lady. She is one cool woman. Well, she gave us a bag of silverware that she didn’t want anymore because she had recently inherited some new stuff. We didn’t need it as silverware, but I am always up for stashing some things away for craft projects or finding a home that needs it.
For Wilma’s birthday, we made her this cool hook display…
I say “we” because I picked out the silverware, piece of wood, and had the desire to make it. My amazing husband did all the bending and using of drills to make my idea a reality.
I really think Wilma loved her birthday present. I thought it was the perfect gift for a chef. Maybe she can use it in her “catering” kitchen to hang a pot-holder or utensils on. I now want one in my kitchen! Don’t you love making a present that you love so much it’s hard to give it away?! Those are the best gifts!
I think its been two or three years since I ran my weekly craft project series on this blog. Every Monday I posted a craft project I had done that week. I’m going to re-start that series, but this time it will be on Fridays.
This sweet wall hook sign is my first Friday Project Spotlight. My desire with this series is to keep me continually crafting. I think being creative and looking at things with the potential of what they could be is healthy for me. Plus, I hope it inspires you to do one of my projects or to urge you along with doing a craft you have on your to do list!
I hope you enjoyed this wall hook post and hope it inspires you! Happy Friday!!
