Kids of a blogger

February 4, 2013 By Erica Deuel 2 Comments

I had a request from a sweet friend and reader to hear more of what my kids say.  They are such a big part of my blog content, I love the idea of allowing you to see more of who they are.  With a professional video editor for a husband, I should do more videos.  Today, I am proud to say…I did this video all by myself (except for getting it on You Tube of course :)).  Here is why…

As I mentioned in my Valentines Day mantel post, my kids were scheming up a plan during the mantel’s photo shoot.  It was such a sweet moment of my kids’ hearts (and I had my camera out), that I knew I had the opportunity to let you see a window into their hearts and more of who they are.  Enjoy!

Aren’t they cute!?  Now all you mom’s of boys know that in the midst of sweet moments, distractions (aka wrestle fights) can throw everyone off course.  Do you recognize this sequence below?

brothers wrestling fight

You know those mama snuggles and one remorseful, funny brother…

…and the giggles and happy boy returns!

In a moment of giggles, all the tears are forgotten and they are best friends again.

This is all happening while the little girl continues on normally with her afternoon snack…

…and plays happily with her Mickey Mouse doll, rocking it to sleep.

little girl with mickey mouseTears and crying brother fights don’t even phase her.  It’s just normal life.

So, we all played and I took more pictures, before we got back on track with preparing “daddy’s special dinner” as talked about in the video.

Caleb ran around and found things he wanted to display on the dinner table, and he came up with this setting all on his own.

He propped up the paper mache stars they painted that week against a vase of flowers and berries he cut in the backyard.  He gathered candles, a family picture, and our decor pine cones.  The boy has style.

Later at dinner, Reagan wanted her star and Caleb said “now it doesn’t look right” as he gave it to her.  He was able to process why he thought that out loud, and his answer left Matt and I smiling (and slightly giggling on the inside).  He said there was now a “hole” in the layout.  What five year old can see and know that!?  I adore this boy.

We had a great dinner, and I couldn’t be a prouder mom of my three littles.

If you are ever wondering about the kids of a blogger, they are just real kids.  They climb on chairs, destroy the house in a matter of minutes, and try to take off their mama’s socks.  These are mine, and I am crazy about them.

I hope you had a great weekend!
