Ready to Hear Yourself (your truest self!) Again!?

November 25, 2022 By Erica Deuel Leave a Comment

Friends!

Today is the day! I’ve teased you for a while, that I have been creating an online course and today is the day you can get involved. For 3 days only, I have marked down an early, bird purchase to grab my course for just $55!

I have created an online digital course to help exhausted, mentally worn down, busy adults, parents and caregivers reclaim some life. This was me. Maybe it is you? In this course, you will go from feeling overwhelmed and mentally exhausted to feeling empowered and excited, while experiencing new confidence and enjoyment of daily interaction and intentional journeying together with those you love for the long haul.

Ready to Hear Yourself (your truest self!) Again!?

This course walks you through 5 daily habits that can help you regain the life you are PRESENT in (your mind is where your body is), while building a connection with your kids that goes the distance.

This is where you come in…

For the next three days, I’m opening up 10 spots to enroll in my ($99) course at a massive discount (get it for only $55 right now) in exchange for less than five minutes of your time once per week over the next 5 weeks.

The course-which goes live January 2023-has been written, but I will be taking the next 5 weeks to film, edit, create graphics, printables and slides with insight…from YOU!

I’ll send you a short and sweet email each Wednesday morning with no more than 3 questions. All you have to do is vote multiple choice for your favorite idea or answer a simple question.

And on January 12, after I have opened up enrollment to the public at the full price, you’ll receive the finalized course (and any bonuses I offer during my launch)!

So, are you in??

I’d love for you to be part of this experience and new venture for Spoonful of Imagination! It’s been a year long process of implementing these habits in my own life (that I roll out in my course, with lots of stories and applications), getting to a place to share, and dreaming that being vulnerable with my journey can help you in yours.

If you’ve been struggling to enjoy life daily, and intentionally show up for yourself and kids, but feel like life is racing by and you’re left reacting to it rather than intentionally choosing and imagining the possibilities this is your chance to get in at the lowest rate I will ever sell this course for. Plus, you get to have a say in what will be included in the course!

Click here to enroll today at a special discounted rate: $55

Did I mention, you’ll have lifetime access to the course? That means if January is crazy for you, you can watch and follow along whenever is good for you!

If you have any questions, shoot me a message back! In it with you friends. Thank you for letting me share my new venture with you. It’s my dream and prayer that this course helps you re-imagine a life that you feel empowered and excited to show up for every single day. You matter. The world needs a FULL version of you!

Imagine the Possibilities,
Erica

Click here to grab one of the 10 spots now. Early enrollment officially opens today 11/25 and goes until Monday 11/28 (or until it sells out)!

Spring Mantel Decor with Crafts

February 20, 2019 By Erica Deuel Leave a Comment

Who is ready for winter to be over!?

(All the hands went up and the hearts said yes). Especially the ones in the northern mid-west of the United States. We got more ice and snow last night in Indiana, so it felt like the perfect time to show you what I did at our art studio yesterday.

I set up spring.

It was time to take down the winter-Valentines decor…

I went straight to warm colors, softer textures, and crafty bits for spring. It was inspired by these two baskets I found thrifting last weekend.

I wanted to use the baskets as little shelves to hold a vase of flowers in our new mantel display. Although I had this idea, I knew the vases needed to be light since the baskets are thin.

Since this mantel is at our art studio I constantly am trying to think of how to keep it easy, cheap, creative, crafty, yet not tacky. I want it to inspire others that pretty doesn’t have to be expensive and that you can mix some easy crafty bits into decor to look pretty and feel personal at the same time.

I decided for the light flower vases I would use old soup cans. To soften their metal look and give another texture, I simply wrapped some thick yarn around it a couple of times and knotted it off.

I stuck some fake flowers in the can, and my light vase to go in my basket was complete. I wrapped some wire around my new vase and stuck it through the basket and twisted the wire behind the basket to get my vase to stay in place.

I ended up putting the vases in the middle of the baskets, so the baskets look more like a frame than a shelf. It looked better to scale this way. If I had bigger “vases” I might have kept with the shelf idea. I like this process of creating where an idea might start as one thing, but as you create, you take it somewhere else.

It’s part of the fun of creating. We aren’t tied to our original ideas we see in our brain.

I strung up a clearance banner I found at Target for $0.50, put some Dollar Tree succulents in some wood pots we sell at the studio for people to paint, and hung up two umbrellas (for that spring rain) that I found at Hobby Lobby for $7.00 each and my spring mantel was complete.

Do you ever find one item that inspires a look? I had a bunch of random ideas in my head for this new mantel, but once I found the baskets- it all came together!

Do you remember what last spring’s mantel was with the butterflies!? Take a look here and let me know which one is more YOU!

Happy day friends! Spring will come, but until then we can make the most of each day for the gift that it is!

A Little Girl’s Dream Fairy Party (tips and ideas to host your own)

July 23, 2016 By Erica Deuel Leave a Comment

girls_fairy_paarty_ideasWhat little girl doesn’t love fairies?

The idea of colorful, beautiful little dressed girls is easy for their imaginations.

It’s the perfect time of year to run with their imaginations and make a day of it by hosting a fairy party.

In this post, I want to share a lot of my fairy party details with you, so you too can host a party for your little girl. I started with making an invitation. I wanted to let my guests know what we would be doing, but I used some of the elements from our activities in the picture rather than giving an example. I was hesitant to stop their imaginations or element of surprise for when they showed up.

fairy_garden_party_inviteNext, come up with your activities and crafts. This was my schedule.

2:00pm-2:30pm Welcome guests, start them on a fairy wand craft while others arrive.

2:20pm-2:30pm Talk about fairies, what movies they are in, etc.

2:30pm-3:00 Paint fairies/fairy houses

3:00pm-3:30pm Snack/fairy games

3:30pm-4:00pm Create fairy gardens

It turns out I had a lot packed into my party, but we got it all in. I just had to watch the clock. Now, don’t hold too strictly to timing because you are working with little kids. Fun always takes precedent over getting everything in.

Now, if you are thinking of hosting a fairy party, you must definitely have a little girl or love one that you know a lot. Let them help you! We shopped for supplies together and then I let my kids help set up! They placed glitter/sequins in their containers for the fairy wand craft, decorated the concrete with chalk, organized things for me, carried things outside for me, hung fairy wings, and a lot more.

fairy_garden_set_upI painted my guests each a little wooden butterfly name tag. They were pretty cute and would make great bookmarks after our event.

fairy_garden_element

fairy_garden_party_decorAs my guests arrived, we started creating our fairy wands. I had attached a painted wood heart to a dowel rod prior to the event and placed them around the table, so every guest could find a seat and have a wand ready to go. It was so fun to watch the kids personalities come out in how they decorated their wand. Some made patterns with the different colors and others tried to get as many sparkly things on it as they could.

fairy_wand_creation

fairy_garden_craftsOnce we had finished with the wands, we talked about fairies. How beautiful they are…how small they are…how colorful they are…what movies they are in, etc. They girls were really animated and excited. It was so fun. We then painted their fairy houses (small craft bird houses) and fairies that they would later use for their fairy gardens.

painting_bird_house2

painting_bird_houseWhile we waited for the paint to dry, we had a snack and played some fairy games. We created an obstacle course that the girls had to run through to “earn” their own fairy wings. We also squeezed in a few rounds of fairy-fairy-fly (which was simply a remake of duck-duck-goose). They were excited to run around, and it was fun to see them cheer one another on.

fairiesFinally, I showed them an example of a fairy garden creation that my Caleb had made for the party. We talked about how the rocks could be used to create paths, the moss to create a forest, and so on. They were all so eager to start. I then showed them all the materials I had out and they went at it.

fairy_garden_ideas

fairy_garden_party_craftsEach girl was so proud of her garden. It was so fun to watch them carry them around and keep adding to them but also proudly show them off. I loved watching their imaginations come alive. One little girl thought to sprinkle glitter over her rocks like fairy dust. Another girl made a pool of blue sequins for water. How creative is that!? I have so much to learn from these girls.

fairy_garden_guests

fairy_garden

fairy_garden_creationEach of their creations was so beautiful and fun. These girls had a blast, and I had a blast helping them have a fun afternoon. At one point I asked my Reagan if she was in her happy place and she smiled proudly and said yes. There is something truly special about creating and hanging with friends.

fairy_garden_housesWhile the girls waited for their parents to pick them up, the played with their gardens and it made my heart want to explode. I mean seriously. How cute is this!?

little_girl_fairy_partyYou too can host a fairy party and make some girls’ days. The feedback from this event has been so fun.

One little girl wore her wings the whole next day, including into a pool…

One little girl was more excited about the fairy party than a sleep over that night…

One little girl said it was more fun than going swimming (which is a lot to say on these hot days)…

and two little girls currently have their fairy gardens in their house to keep them safe.

These are the moments and memories these girls will remember and look back on about their childhood. What an honor to help create such lasting moments and build into them as they continue to develop a love for creating.

If you want even more ideas for a fairy party. Check out my post on fairy gardens and see some pictures from a friend’s fairy birthday party for her daughter.

Lessons I never want to tire of learning

August 24, 2015 By Erica Deuel Leave a Comment

love_is_patient_hoop

As a solider you are trained, given lots of wisdom and time to grow and practice what you have learned way before going into battle. Being a foster care parent is very similar.

We have done this before and have now been trained and certified TWICE. I bet if you ask a solider (I’m sure this is true as well), you learn so much once you hit the battle field. That experience trumps all the preparation done to get to the field.

If I could explain what our family has been going through these last six weeks, I would say it is heavily relearning things we learned the first time around.

There are many highs and lows.

I am relearning the need for community.

I can’t do this on my own.

I need Jesus.

I have darker moments than I want to admit.

We can be somewhat healthy and the moment you add trauma to your family – it’s like a bomb goes off and everyone is effected.

I often need to be in bed by 9:00pm (even if that’s watching a baby monitor)

love_is_patient_embroidery_hoopAlthough it is again one of the hardest things I have had to do, these are lessons I never want to tire of learning. I want so badly to teach my kids patience. This includes my foster son. We need to show love by being patient with our words and actions. We say that often, as you may remember from reading this parenting tip post of ours. I need to remember that it is needed for me to be patient with myself.

We are all still adjusting. Life is different with a new one in the house. We are all learning a new rhythm. The new normal is that there is no normal. That’s a hard concept for one to take in. Especially someone with my personality who thrives on rhythm and steadiness. I have cried. I have wanted to be done. I have questioned if I can do this. I have had to rethink the clarity I felt when I said yes. Did I dream that peace? No, no I didn’t. But, there has been enough tired moments that have left me in all kinds of dark places emotionally.

Although the two long term placements we have had in our home, both boys, different ages, come from different parents and live states away, there is a certain normalcy with adding kids from trauma into your home. I knew this, but I have not been patient to allow my body to catch up to what my heart and head know to be true. I read this post, and it struck me with how accurate her explanation of what I am living is to be true.

love_is_patient_wall_artLove is patient. I will be patient with allowing myself to be a never ending piece of clay that needs molding. I can admit I don’t have it all together. I need Jesus. I need his grasp on the bigger picture in all the hard moments. I need him to speak truth to me, through me, and around me. I can’t do this, but I know the one who can. I call him my Savior. He has not forgotten us. He will sustain, and we will be his hands and feet to the hurting in our home. It is the mission field we prayed it would be.

foster_care_is_hard

I say all this not for you to have pity on me. Seriously. I say this to encourage you. The truths we say to our kids are true for us as well. Love is patient. I will give myself grace to adjust and patience as we figure out our new life. If you too are a foster mama or just a mama in general, don’t forget we are learning everyday. Our homes can be seen as our battle ground. There will be good days with lots of signs of progress and there will be days that are so dark you cry into your pillow. The evil one does not want us to shine love and grace and teach forgiveness. We will get discouraged and feel defeated, but I am relearning we just need to press further in…cry out to Jesus…and have patience in seeing signs of hope.
