Recapping A Great Night

October 29, 2013 By Erica Deuel 18 Comments

mail holeI keep thinking about my Spoonful Lab and a huge smile comes across my face. It was so much fun. Yesterday, I showed you the ruffle aprons I made for it. Today, I want to show you the night.

girls_craft_partyWhen everyone arrived, they got to get a drink, browse my decor and supplies, and find a seat. They immediately got to mingle, talk and start creating a colorful fabric garland.

making_fabric_garland

making_a_fabric_garlandIt was open and relaxed and I couldn’t have been more pleased. I loved seeing how although I explained some things…everyone took my instruction and put their own twist on it. I am so glad everyone felt the freedom to create what they wanted.

making_garlandI love seeing the creative process take place, and being apart of it was just icing on the cake. These girls were creative and have skills!

i_am_beautifulWe enjoyed some amazing desserts made by my sweet friend and fellow blogger Libby at Lemon Grass and Green Tea. She really out did herself on the amazing and beautiful treats we got to enjoy!

fall_dessertsI shared some of my tips that I use and run through when I paint wood signs. I’ve walked you through a few techniques in different blog posts, but being live I got to babble and go in more depth. It was so fun to explain my creative process without having to worry about how many characters I said it all in. I loved it.

girls craft nightRust-oleum was so generous to supply the spray paint as the main supply item for our wood signs. The colors are gorgeous, and I loved seeing how almost every color I had was used.

hand_painted_signsDon’t feel bad if you missed out on this one. There is another lab coming! I am already dreaming and planning for my next event. On December 5th, I have a lab in Alpharetta, Georgia. Out of The Box Art Studio is generously giving me their place for the night to host this event.

Handmade_Christmas_SpoonfulLab600We are going to create a white feather wreath that is perfect for your Christmas decor and can even carry over into the new year for winter. We will also be creating some Christmas ornaments. This will be a great chance to get out with your girl friends and have some fun and laugh, after (I’m sure) a crazy Thanksgiving weekend. Sign ups are now live! Please go here to reserve your spot today!

Also, if you want to get your hands on some of the woods signs I made to explain my painting techniques, they are going up for sale in my shop this week. A lot have already been added.

I will have swag bags again for my attendees at the Handmade Christmas Lab. Here is what was in our last lab’s swag bag:

swag itemsEveryone’s earrings, magnets, bookmark (that also acted as our name tag), and card were slightly different. I think they were a hit. I am already planning the next bag of goodies. If you would like to get your hands on the swag items above, please leave me a comment below. I will randomly select a winner this weekend. I would also LOVE if you share my graphic for my Handmade Christmas party around.

Thank you so much for all your support!

The Beginning of CHANGE

January 1, 2013 By Erica Deuel 14 Comments

2013 is here! What do you have planned? What are you dreaming about? What are you claiming for this year?

I have read several blogs, Instagrams, and tweets in the last few days about choosing and claiming a word for 2013.  I love this idea.

I love how JaNeal shared how she wants to take off the pressure of doing more, so she can claim LIFE as new and more enriching.  I love how Alissa is claiming “purposeful” for everything she does and wants to live 2013 with that in mind.  As I have read and seen so many beautiful hearts (as people are being raw and open), I have wanted to come up with a word for myself.

We have been sensing a leading and direction for 2013 that we believe that is from the Lord, and if I try to think of one word for it all I would say it is “change.”

As we celebrated the close of 2012 last night, laughing and cuddling as a family, an excitement kept brewing in me for all that we believe 2013 holds.  You may have already read how 2012 was a hard year and held a lot of change for us.  When I reflect on the last year though, I would call it more of a year of “transition” and “preparation” for this coming year.

new years eve family celebrations

I have big dreams for this blog, but what I am most excited about is all the changes that will happen on a personal level with our family and the road God is taking us down.  I can’t wait to open up more about it, when the time is right.  Thank you for being on this journey with me as we “change!”

The Blog Tour

November 6, 2012 By Erica Deuel 3 Comments

Welcome back to Spoonful of Imagination!!  Did you browse around yesterday?  I would love to hear what your favorite new features are about the site!  I will tell you about mine in this post.  But first, the really fun stuff!

As you remember, we are drawing a winner everyday this week from the entries in Friday’s giveaway contest.  The winner of today’s giveaway is going to receive this beautiful hair bow.

I used Random. org to draw today’s winner, and congratulations Gina Clyde!  You are the winner of this Creme/lace Hair Bow!  Gina, I will be in touch!  Do not worry, your name will go back in the hat for Friday’s drawing!

Thank you so much to Gina and all of you who have already entered the drawing for Friday’s Grand Prize.  If you have not entered, it is not too late!  If you have already entered, there are some daily options for you to gain more entries!

If you haven’t entered, wait for the Rafflecopter widget to load and add your entries.

Today, I want to share a little more with you about my new site.  I have five things that I am really excited about, and I wanted to point them out to you.

First, you can still see all of your favorite posts from Deuel Family.  Use the pretty buttons on the right to go straight to my most popular categories.  You can also use the archive tab to scroll through to see even more categories.

Secondly, I have a really easy subscribe button at the top right of the screen, so you can easily enter your email and not miss one of my posts!  Just as a reminder to my old followers, you will have to re-enter your information.

Third, I love how my Dancing Zebras tab at the top links you directly to my store on etsy.  It is so quick and easy to see what I have up for sale.  I will continue to add new things to the store, and I hope you will keep checking it out.

Fourth, I just adore my rotating slides at the top of my site.  I will be featuring five posts at a time through this banner.

Lastly, I LOVE all my cute, little social media buttons at the top of my screen.  There are so many ways to stay in contact with me, and I hope you choose to follow them all!!

As you can see, I am a bit gitty with excitement over here!  Thank you so much for checking in today.  I can’t wait to share with you who tomorrow’s giveaway winner is and tell you about some series I have coming up.
