Wood Love Blocks

July 13, 2012 By Erica Deuel 6 Comments

These little love blocks were the second part to our shower gift from last  Saturday.  My brother is an insanely talented furniture maker.  I will do a whole post some time to his crafty ways.  He was throwing out scraps and asked me if I wanted these wood blocks for something and I sad “yes!”.

I love how to most people they would have been seen as trash, but our creative eyes knew they could become something great!  Here is my process of transferring them into the gem they now are…

I think Jennifer and Seth really liked them.  By the way, aren’t they cute!?!

They just closed two days ago on their first house, we are so excited for this sweet couple!!

I love how the blocks were a fun, simple decoration to my food display for the party and were also a gift to them.

I made another decoration, these little Mr. and Mrs. hanging signs…

This sweet decoration could be YOURS if you want.  I just uploaded them into my etsy store for your purchase, so go get them before they are gone!  To view this sweet Mr. and Mrs. decor as well as my other Dancing Zebras items just click my blog BUTTON below…

(Thank you so much Erin at DIYonthecheap for making this button for me!!  You’re awesome!!)

We had a great time hosting the shower.  I love reasons to make stuff.  As if I need a reason!!  Thanks so much for checking in on this week’s Friday Project Spotlight.

Here I am with the sweet bride to be!

I’d love to hear what you are thinking on my project spotlight series!?  Should I keep this up???  I love comments!!  Hope you all have a great weekend!!

A gift for…YOU!

May 13, 2012 By Erica Deuel 5 Comments

Ok, really it is more for your girl or maybe a little girl that you love!

I have been blogging more, and I don’t really know why.  I know I am more an internal processor and I think  it’s helping me to dissect some of these changes in my life by typing it out.  Thank you all for barring with me and reading this thing!

Your encouraging words, comments, texts, and messages (based on stuff I have written) has been a little wind in my sail!

As a thank you, this is my gift to one of you!  All you have to do is simply leave a comment with your email, full name, or some way for me to contact you to get your address if you are the winner!  On Wednesday, I will randomly draw one of your names out of a hat, and you will get this beautiful bow in the mail…FREE!

I hope you have a wonderful Mother’s Day celebrating the moms in your life!!  I love you all!

Thank you!!!

April 6, 2012 By Erica Deuel Leave a Comment

Thank you to all of my wonderful friends and family that have bought a superhero cape from me in the last week!!  I am so proud to say all my current orders have been made and delivered (or on the way to being delivered).

Since writing that post about Capes for a Cause, I have uploaded some capes to my etsy store, Dancing Zebras.  If you know anyone that would like to buy a cape, I thought they might feel more comfortable buying it through my site rather than emailing a stranger!  Feel free to pass the following links on:

Superhero Cape

Infant Superhero Cape

Girl’s Superhero Cape with a Hair Bow

I will be trying to get some hair bows and other random things back up on the site as well!  So keep checking it!

Thank you so much for reading this, possibly sending it on, and playing a role in helping/caring to promote my cause!!  I am proud to say I have some money in my CA can for my plane ticket!

Capes for a Cause

March 28, 2012 By Erica Deuel 2 Comments

This post might seem a little surprising since my last two posts talked about how I don’t like to take craft “orders”, but there is a purpose for my maddness!

You all know that my best friend moved to California at the end of December.  She is due in about five weeks with her fourth child!  I wanna go see her, her life, and that new baby!!  I haven’t seen a round trip flight out there for less than $330.  Ouch!  We can’t afford that.  So, I am gonna try to make a little cash with my superhero capes to buy a plane ticket.  I have had a little interest in them and after getting paid to make a few, I have decided it’s the easiest “ordered” item to make!  Check them out!

These capes were made for Tim’s kids (who are older than mine), so they are a little big on my models.  They are about 30″ long.  I can make shorter, but this will be my specified size made unless told differently.  Note:  I recommend approximately a 25″ cape for ‘Caleb’ size kids.

No pressure to buy a cape if you don’t need one!  I just thought I would throw this idea out there in case some of you might be interested.  I think they make amazing gifts!  It is one of my favorite birthday gifts to give to my kids’ friends.  My boys still spend lots of time running around in their capes and are currently asking for new ones with different colors to complete their range of superhero loves.  I love to think how a simple cape encourages activity and imagination!    There is nothing like fostering their little innocent spirits!  Now that Reagan is walking, she will be needing one soon!!!

A mom of one of Caleb’s classmates asked me to make some for her.  After looking around on etsy and some other sites to see what I should charge her, I saw the price range for these things is crazy broad!  They range from $11 (not personalized) to over $60!  Ha mine aren’t the best but they are cute!  Here are my details:

Details:

  • $30 for a standard 30″ cape (or shorter)
  • You pick two colors (front and back) Options are: light blue, blue, red, hot pink, light pink, lime green, silver, dark purple, turquoise, yellow, black, or orange
  • Pick one letter to be in the middle of the star (I will choose a coordinating color for the star unless you give a preference)
  • You can pick it up at my house, or if it works out we can meet close by in Roswell for the hand off, or it will be $5 a cape for shipping
  • It could be quicker, but please allow two weeks for completion on an order

Thanks so much for letting me throw this out there!  If you are interested in getting a cape made contact me through my contact form!  Thanks so much!!

Thank you to my amazing sister-in-law, Christina DeVictor, for taking these awesome pictures and editing them to make my little add!!
