February 8, 2013 By Erica Deuel Leave a Comment

whole lotta family love giveaway button

Today, I have a HUGE giveaway for one of you!!  I have teamed up with three other bloggers to bring you this bundle of awesomeness!

Money Trail

Carpool-Ninja

DIY on the Cheap

amazon40

We are joining together to bring you a giveaway for your whole family to enjoy.  We have all gone in to offer up a $40 amazon giftcard.  I might be slightly jealous of that awesomeness, but we have then each donated another item of our craft.

YEAR_of_LITTLE_LESSO_Cover_for_Kindle

My good friend, Courtney (carpool-ninja), that I introduced to you in my Girl’s Night post, has written a book.  I don’t know how I have such awesome, famous friends.  I started getting to know Courtney a year ago and through lots of playdates, girls nights, and kiddo birthday parties she quickly went into the good friend category in my head.  Her book is amazing, and I have had the privledge of reviewing it for her.  As a stay at home mom of three, there are amazing ideas and hands on activities I can do with my kids.  I love that its all in a book, and one way my kids can see me “read” rather than holding my phone as I browse for inspiration or ideas.  This is an awesome book.  If you don’t win it, you can buy it on here on amazon.

money trail

I have just started to get to know Pam with Money Trail, but she’s awesome and I can already tell be someone I love.  She has a site and app devoted to:  Allowance and Money Management for Kids, Teens and Families.  She is offering up one of her apps for free today.  This app allows you to virtually track your children’s money, gifts, IOUs, and more.  Pam has four kids that are older than mine.  I feel like she is one step past me in life, yet shes so humble, real and has so much knowledge that I want to soak up.

Any Season Wreath

You know my friend Erin from DIY on the Cheap, as every other post mentions her, has offered to make a custom wreath for our winner.  The above wreath is one she has made for her family, and the winner of this giveaway gets to choose the letter he/she wishes to add for a similar style wreath.  Erin is so talented and this wreath is one of her simpler projects.  You really should check out the posts through her Boys’ Big Boy Room Makeover series that is happening.

Love wood sign and teal earringsI have made this sweet little vintage Love Sign and teal earrings to add to our giveaway.  You might remember seeing this sign on loan for my Valentine’s Day Mantel.  It will happily come down and go in the mail to our winner.

There are a lot of awesome prizes here and lots of different ways to be entered for this giveaway.  Please feel free to enter in whatever ways you want!

To enter, simply wait for the Rafflecopter box below to load and then follow the instructions. This giveaway ends Friday, February 22, 2013.

Networking {and links to a special giveaway!}

January 25, 2013 By Erica Deuel 13 Comments

What do you think of when you hear the word networking?  Do you view it with a positive or negative connotation?

I think a year ago I would have thought through the term networking as a manipulation or way to get your needs or desires met.  To me, it was a way you put yourself out there to get what you want, whether the remarks and communication were genuine or not did not matter.  I guess I would have said networking had a distasteful tone to me.

That has changed.

The transition from becoming an occasional online diary post-er to a regular blogger changed my perspective and here is why.

Networking has been one of the most encouraging things building into me the last several months.  I have grown to LOVE it because I see it as a way to develop yourself as a better person (not even thinking through brand/blog growth), make new friendships, and connect with others that have the same interests as you.

So many incredible bloggers have impacted and welcomed me into this blog network.  They have given me tips on blogging (& just life!), encouragement, ideas, and as a result my perspective on networking changed…

  • My really good friend, Erin, helped birth Spoonful of Imagination with all her blog knowledge from developing her baby, DIY On The Cheap.

  • Suzy has challenged me to save money with my craft projects and reuse items more than buy more items, and I have started a toilet paper roll collection due to her influence.
  • My friends Heather and Angela have given me wonderful tips and activities of how to life well (and fun) with my kids.
  • JaNeal has encouraged me to come up with a word theme for my year and complimented I think every one of my crafts.  Talk about building into someone!  I was only too excited to help her with a giveaway of her own (more good news here at the end).

Spoonful of imagination giveaway items

  • Polly and Becca are constantly challenging me about how I live and what I invest my time and energy into.
  • Jillian is my little Twitter/email buddy that I feel like I know like a friend that lives down the street.  She’s real in my world although I only know her in social media world.
  • Kelley is always stretching me to do my “first” with many things in the blog world.  As in my first sponsor swap, first guest post, first joint giveaway, and first link up party.  I have learned so much from her example.

Leather Post

  • Rhoda, Donna, Lisa, Heidi, Karen, Kelly, Ann Marie, and Alissa are all names that I refer to in conversations with my husband on a weekly basis because their blogs consistently blow me away.
  • Christina is one of my biggest fans as she is usually bursting with excitement when I show her new things I am working on and wants to document my whole life with her amazing pictures.  I am so humbled.

  • Lastly, my husband Matt with all his amazing skills (might not be a blogger but as a producer and web developer he constantly gives from the talents that he usually gets paid for) has challenged and cheered for me the loudest.  He helps me in unmeasurable ways with the technical and business side of my blog.  He also contributes from brainstorming and dreaming of what I want to do with this hobby, to helping with my projects and being in my pictures, down to fine tweaking my writing.  He is the one that listens to all my “blog talk.”

I have not mentioned everyone I have been affected by, but I say all this to say I am continually humbled by the friendships I have made through blogging.  I love it.  I think networking is a craft in and of itself because it is the task and art of connecting with others and accepting differences and yet growing and learning from one another.

When I look at my sidebar, I get so excited about how many of these influencers have their pretty buttons right there for you to see as well.

Would you like to swap blog buttons with me for this next month?  I would love to check out your site by clicking your button and encouraging my readers to do the same!  If you are a blogger or small business owner and would like to swap blog buttons, please contact me!

If you don’t want to do a blog swap, but you are still interested in helping to sponsor Spoonful of Imagination you can buy one of the following buttons/add spaces for my sidebar.

My first option is The Serving Spoon ($15) for this 260 x 200 add space (the next available spot will be starting in March).

serving spoon

My second option is The Tablespoon ($10) for this 260 x 120 add space.

tablespoon

My last option is The Teaspoon ($5) for this 125 x 125 add space.

teaspoon

Each of these options allow your button to be up for a month.  You also have the opportunity to do a guest post or giveaway if you are interested!

My blog is growing, and I am so excited about all that is in store for 2013!  I understand if your sidebar is “full” and you might not want to swap buttons with me, but if you are a blogger and interested in “reviewing” any of my products/creations please let me know.  I am open to contributing items to giveaways and giving you one to enjoy as well!  I hope you stay with me in this journey and we can get to know one another better!

Now, for the giveaway item I hinted at above!  I have teamed up with JaNeal for an awesome giveaway of hand crafted items!  I contributed an Embroidered Owl Hoop, a Felt Red Hair Bow, and my popular Teal Earrings.

Country Living Fair

October 28, 2012 By Erica Deuel 14 Comments

On Saturday, I was able to meet up with a group of DIY bloggers from the Atlanta area.  We met with some other members of Hometalk  and Ben Ashby, the editor in chief of Folk magazine, to attend the Country Living Fair at Stone Mountain Park.  It was a blast!  I loved meeting so many writers of blogs I have been following.

Thank you to Beth at Unskinny Boppy for this group shot!

My friend, Erin, and I had a blast talking with these other bloggers and walking all through the woods to see the amazing vendor booths.

I have been to a lot of art festivals, but I think this is my new favorite one!  I loved how the booths were throughout the woods, and they were not right on top of each other in a small 8×8 space.  They were able to spread out.  This left room for more mingling and better viewing, without feeling cramped and rushed (as a lot of crowed art shows feel).

Here are a few things that caught my attention:

I loved those sweet bird pillows and ottoman.  The balance of complimentary colors and prints just pop!  Color always draws my attention…

Erin and I decided my sense of home decor might be considered Bohemian.  It is kind of the “hippie” or “gypsy” at heart look.  There is LOTS of color and mixtures of different art, textures, and vintage with unusual objects in the Bohemian style.  I think that describes my house in a lot of ways.

I kept being wowed by the extravagant ways that the vendors displayed their art.  It was really impressive and an art in itself!

Our blogger group got a private demonstration from Rust-oleum on their new paint for tiles.

It was so fun learning about this new paint and getting to try it out!

It really looked great, and I am pretty sure we are going to try it in our bathroom on our tile half wall!  What a quick and cheaper way to cover up the 50’s style tile work in there!

Rust-oleum gave us each a pretty amazing swag bag!  I was so excited!  I can’t wait to use this weathered gray stain I received!  Thank you so much Rust-oleum!

Other than my free stuff and lunch purchase, I don’t know how I only left with this sweet little purchase…

There is nothing like local Georgia honey!

I had such a great time at the Country Living Fair.  I think it will be a new annual tradition to attend.  I can’t wait to go again next year!

I hope you had a wonderful weekend!  Have you ever been to this great fair?

*I was not commissioned to write this post nor was I compensated by Rust-oleum or anyone associated with this event.
