My Plans

November 7, 2012 By Erica Deuel 4 Comments

My plans for this blog are to try to stick to some kind of a writing schedule.  I know that may be a stretch for me, but I am prepared to try!  I have promised lots of things like traveling tips, seeing dresses I’ve sewn, and a series of posts about me.  Hopefully, this new writing schedule will bring some new routines that will help me be a healthier and more reliable writer.

First off, I would like to say a HUGE congratulations to Rachel Mango for wining this vintage sign.

Rachel, I will be in touch!!  Thank you so much for entering my giveaway!  It is not too late to enter!  Add your entries using the Rafflecopter widget below for your chance to win $50 to my etsy store.

Now, I will let you in on the writing plans I have for this new site.

On Mondays, I want to write something personal.  It may be about me, my family, our birthdays, our faith, etc.  Of course, there will probably be kid activities, crafts or outing posts in here because those can all be intertwined with something personal.

On Wednesdays, I will write about our homeschooling adventure.  It may be a field trip, an activity, or a tip.  I would love to take you through a “normal” school day for us in a post, but of course, no promises :).

Fridays will remain my Project Spotlight.  In these posts I will show a craft I did that week.  Often they will be DIY projects that will allow you to have step-by-step instructions on how to carry the project out.

Although there are three main days of writing with a topic goal for each day, I know there will be days that I am late or my topics may be slightly off.  But, I have a goal, and that is progress!  I’m sure I will have blog posts on other days as well, but I want to commit to those days for certain.  I have bought a calendar just for my blog to help keep things straight, which I am excited about.

If you have been around here long enough, you know that crafts and DIY projects are a part of me.  So, although there are rough topic sections, crafts will pop up in all of these posts and days.

To kick this new style off, I am introducing a five-week series about me.  Every Monday,  for five weeks, I will unfold part of my story and let you get to know “pieces of me”.  The rough titles of these posts are:

  • 1 of 9
  • Formative Years
  • Early Bliss Years
  • Raising Kids
  • Today

I am excited about it, and I hope you are too!  If you have any questions that you would hope I answer through out this series, please leave me a comment and let me know!

Thanks for checking in today.  I hope you come back tomorrow to see if you are the daily giveaway winner and to see our first ever vlog, featuring two very special interview guests.  🙂

Welcome to Spoonful of Imagination!

November 4, 2012 By Erica Deuel 18 Comments

Welcome to Spoonful of Imagination!  I am so excited you found me in this huge cyber space world!  We have just moved from The Deuel Family blog and are so excited about our new site!

The Deuel Family blog was our online journal that we started in the fall of 2008. Those tales and a series of traveling with my husband’s job grew my love for blogging. As the blog world grew and changed so did I, and all of this led to the birth of Spoonful of Imagination. This blog exists to inspire parents to be the best mom and dads they can be in this rather brief yet hard time we have our kids at home.  All while remaining sane and keeping our interests and selves fueled. I feel like if you add a spoonful of imagination into every area of your journey, it will be a more beautiful life.  My greatest hope is that people leave here “imagining the possibilities!”

In the coming days, I will roll out some of my plans and ideas I have for this site.  BUT, now let’s get to the fun stuff!

As a special “thank you” to my Deuel Family Blog subscribers, I came up with this giveaway with all of your names entered in.  I used Random.org to draw one winner for this amazing giveaway prize.

Congratulations to Liz at A Pony Tail Kind of Day you are the winner of these earrings!  Liz, I’ll be in touch!  If you love these earrings, you can check out my store on how to get your own pair.

Now for some fun for YOU!

I am going to have a Grand Prize giveaway on Friday which is a *$50 store credit to my Dancing Zebras store.  To be entered, simply wait for the Rafflecopter box to load below, and follow the instructions.  The giveaway ends on Thursday, November 8 at midnight EST.  The winner will be announced the following morning.  I will draw a winner everyday (from the entries already entered at that time) to give a daily prize everyday this week!  How fun is that!?  On Friday, everyone’s name will go back in the hat to draw for the Grand Prize winner.  Don’t wait till Thursday to enter-you could win something tomorrow!

I’m BACK!!! (with info about our trip across the country!)

September 4, 2012 By Erica Deuel 2 Comments

Last time I posted, I was leaving for the beach and needed a media silence.  That was almost exactly one month ago.  I am back and here to tell you that beach trip was only the beginning of our travels!!   I am sorry I could not reveal the full extent of our trip, but we were gone for almost a month. For all the stalkers and house toilet paper rollers out there, we didn’t want it to be hugely wide known that our house would be vacant for weeks on end.  This little blog of mine is not huge by any means, but you know, a girls gotta be careful!

We left August 8 and headed to Florida, from there we started our travels to the west coast!  Our goal was to see our beloved friends in California, and we did that and had so many awesome stops before and after!

We got back this past Saturday, and we have been adjusting to life back at home, doing laundry, and seeing family.  Its been bitter sweet to get back from such an incredible trip.  In the coming days, I will be sharing more details from our trip.  The post I am most excited to share with you is the FACTS from living on the road for 25 days, while driving across the United States, with a 5, 3, and 1 year old.

Thank you for being patient with my while I took time away from social media.  This was a great time for me to just enjoy my family.  That was my only “to-do”. While gone, I really got to recenter my priorities, process what I am doing and where I am going, and just be FREE!  Matt and I had some amazing talks and got to dream together.  It’s incredible how pulling yourself out of your “norm” and being freeed up can bring you back to the root of who you are, what you want to be about, and what matters in life.  We had an amazing trip, and I can’t wait to share more of it with you!!

For all of our friends/family that we didn’t get to see on this road trip, we will get to you next time!!  There will be more road trips!  Isn’t that a success alone?!  I can honestly say, I can’t wait to get back on the road.  More coming along these lines too!!  I have some great ideas for blog posts (well, that are exciting to me!?!  I hope you enjoy them as well!) and series that I can’t wait to share!  I missed this little outlet of mine!

For now, let me leave you with some fun shots from our travels:

Thank you so much for stopping by!!
