DIY Flower Name Tag

April 30, 2014 By Erica Deuel 3 Comments

DIY_Summer_Flower_name_tagsDo you have a party or a shower coming up that could use a little flair? For my last Spoonful Lab, I created these Flower Name Tags, and I know the guests at your next gathering will love them. Follow along and I’ll walk you though how to make them step-by-step.

The first thing I did was create some yo-yo flowers out of a fabric that caught my eye! If you don’t know how to make a yo-yo, I show you how in this yo-yo pillow post.

yo_yo_flowersOnce I had a collection of yo yos, I simply sewed a button to the center. This step was important because it tightens the yo-yo down, so it doesn’t puff out like a balloon.

DIY_yo_yo_flowerI then had fun embellishing! I used my hot glue gun and glued my yo-yo flower onto a petal off a fake cheap flower to give it another dimension and pop of color. I then glued a little burlap leaf onto that flower.

DIY_fabric_flower

DIY_fabric_flower_tutorialIt was that easy! I hot glued a little pin and a piece of paper (with the name) to my flowers to make fun name tags. You could do this too or if we use our imaginations, I know there are a lot of other uses for this type of flower!

You could glue them to dowel rods to make a bouquet, glue them to little pins or clothes pins, sew them onto a pillow, or make a collage of them to make a piece of wall art. I love when one craft can be taken lot of different ways.

name_tagsI am so excited to share more pictures with you from my last Spoonful Lab soon! I hope you are having a great week and get to create something!

Spring is here, let’s get crafting!

March 22, 2014 By Erica Deuel Leave a Comment

I don’t remember a time where spring has been more anticipated than this year!? With such a crazy winter all over the country I feel like everyone is ready for a beautiful spring season. How about you? Well, to celebrate I come bearing a crafting opportunity for you. Wait, not one, but two crafting opportunities. You know you deserve it. You’ve been cooped up all winter. Bring in the spring with some gorgeous and fun spring decor. Let’s get crafting!

My first opportunity is April’s Spoonful Tribe. For those who are new around here, that’s where we box up all the supplies you need, included with a fun tutorial video, ship it all directly to your door and work together to create some handmade crafts. This month, I’m excited to share a beautiful Spring Wreath complete with these stunning satin flowers. It’s fun, it’s stretching, and it’s something you can be proud of as you decorate your home for the season. Go to my shop to order your craft box today. As always, you have to hurry. I have a limited number of boxes and they do sell out.

spring_wreathMy second opportunity is for my local metro Atlanta readers. Or possibly a reader that needs a Spring Break Road Trip! 🙂

I’m excited to announce my next Spoonful Lab. The Spoonful Labs are live gatherings where I lead participants through a crafting party. We hang out, have lots of laughs, while creating unique crafts together. I love love love these events and the opportunity to be face to face with some of you all. I’m switching it up this time though. Rather than an evening gathering I want us to have more time together. For this Lab, we will be crafting together from 10am-3pm on Saturday, April 26th. Just like the Tribe boxes, there are VERY LIMITED seats for this Spoonful Lab. Click here to sign up today and get ready for a blast at the end of April.

SpoofulLab_Crafts

Wouldn’t you love a fun craft to do during the holidays? By signing up, I will ship all the supplies directly to you which will include a secret code to a special video tutorial where I teach you how to do your crafts. Getting KuKee with Hello Kitty!

November 26, 2013 By Erica Deuel 2 Comments

This post is part of a social shopper marketing insight campaign with Pollinate Media
Group™ and KuKee, but all my opinions are my own. #pmedia #helllokittyletsplay http://
cmp.ly/3/8vNxcO.

Having two rough and tumble boys before having our precious little girl has definitely colored our Reagan’s world. My girl knows how to hold her own in a wrestling match on the bean bags and she can name every Transformer toy without even straining. So, any time the opportunity pops up to have some “girl-time” with my little one, I jump at it.

Recently, I was given a day to take Reagan on a special shopping trip where we got KuKee with Hello Kitty! They say a picture is worth a thousand words, so I’m guessing a video must be worth a million. Watch this short clip to see our shopping trip and then I’ll tell you all about it below!

The Hello Kitty Let’s Play Clothing Line is being sold at Macy’s. To make the shopping experience even more fun, download the KuKee app before you go.
It’s simple… Go to the App Store or Google Play and download the KuKee App. While shopping look for a Hello Kitty Dress Up Icon. Open the app and it brings up a scanner. Aim at the Dress Up Icon to launch the app and give your child a fun play experience.

For our trip, we were focusing on the Let’s Play Dress Up series. As you know my kids love to be creative and dress up, so Reagan had no problem understanding the goal. When we scanned the Dress Up Icon the app brought up a Hello Kitty for her to “dress up.” She loved picking out accessories, crowns, and different garments for her Hello Kitty.

We then looked around at the clothes so that she could dress up herself.  Reagan is obsessed with dress up. On each piece of clothing there is an attached Icon which is used to launch the app. The icons are printed on a nice sturdy cardstock and Reagan has enjoyed playing the app several times since our shopping trip.

Another feature of the app, is set up like a scavenger hunt. If you aim the scanner at the cute little KuKee marker, it opens up another experience, where you can collect all the different color markers.

KuKee_markerThe app is a lot of fun and the clothing is so cute. I had a hard time choosing which pieces I wanted as they are all bright and colorful, which is so our style. I ended up buying Reagan a long sleeve long tunic shirt with a cute ruffle at the bottom and a warm vest.

With some cooler days she was needed some warm pieces in her wardrobe. I know holiday shopping is probably at the forefront of a lot of our minds. With Cyber Monday and Black Friday coming, Macy’s will be having some great sales on all their Hello Kitty Let’s Play items.
