For the Love of Color!

July 12, 2013 By Erica Deuel 2 Comments

Ever since I made our king bed's rag quilt, I have wanted to sew some pillow shams for it. Finally after sewing my ruffle shower curtain, I had my sewing machine out and decided to just quickly do them! Sometimes pulling the machine and supplies out can be the hardest obstacle in creating a project with three little ones around. Can you relate? I picked two fabrics that I wanted to use for my shames, and I used a king pillow case as a template for their size. I cut the front fabric the Continue Reading

DIY King Size Rag Quilt {Repost}

January 7, 2013 By Erica Deuel 38 Comments

At the beginning of each new year, Matt and I go on a date to reflect on the past year and share goals for things we want to accomplish in the coming year. Last night we went out for that date and had a blast. We talked a lot about the blog, and it had me reminiscing some of my favorite moments and posts from last year. In that spirit, I decided to repost my favorite post (with some fresh edits and condensed content) from 2012 - my DIY King Size Rag Quilt. Enjoy! My bed needed a makeover. Continue Reading

DIY Headboard

October 5, 2012 By Erica Deuel 12 Comments

I have been wanting to create a new headboard for our bed ever since I finished my king sized rag quilt. It has been a long time coming, but we finally created one!  (I say "we" because Matt was largely involved.  My projects often involve him.  What an awesome man.) I love how it turned out and I can't wait to hang it in our room!!  Would you like how I came up with this piece?  Stayed tuned!  First off, I did lots and lots of scouting on Pinterest for inspiration.  Out of everything Continue Reading

I finally finished the rag quilt for my bed!!!  I am so proud of this project!!  It is by far the biggest thing I have ever sewn!  You might remember  Caleb's rag quilt I made for his birthday in March.  I have wanted to make one for my bed since then.  It has taken that long  for me to complete this project, but it was worth it!!  I LOVE it! My bed needed a makeover.  I really wanted a colorful, anthropology type quilt.  Every quilt I looked at online (and really liked) was easily over Continue Reading

I think I may have misled you (part 2)

March 19, 2012 By Erica Deuel 5 Comments

Ever since I made Reagan's baby quilt over a year ago, Caleb has been asking for me to make him a quilt.  So, I thought his birthday was a good time to do it. He went with me to pick out the fabric, and you know he had a blast with it!  He got so excited with every fabric.  There is two toy story fabrics in the mix.  One pattern I thought was "too big" for my size squares, so I was trying to encourage him away from it.  He had to have it because it had ONLY Buzz on it.  Buzz needed his own Continue Reading
